Sirius/XM Radio channels shuffle tonight

If you’re a Satellite Radio consumer like me, you’ve probably heard about the big channel shift that will be taking place tonight. Nothing too major to get upset about, but if you turn on your radio tomorrow morning and are confused because you’re hearing something totally different, just remember to flip to you new channel designation.

This is also a huge shift for folks like me. In 2008, when Sirius and XM began working to consolidate their programming, I thought I had lost something near and dear to me—XM’s Channel 26, which was then known as “Flight 26”. (Check out my blog here: http://adamniemeyer.blogspot.com/2008/11/rip-flight-26.html)

Turns out the only thing that changed was the name of the station. Now, five years after its inception, the channel formerly known as “Flight 26” now becomes “The Pulse” on Channel 10.

No need to freak out, the only thing that’s changing is the number. And that, in my opinion, won’t be such a bad thing.

I’ve often wondered how long it was going to take Sirius and XM to fully integrate their systems. Two years ago was a major shift, but the newest change will hopefully further streamline the satellite radio business.

It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes to get used to the new lineup. Let me know what your thoughts are, and which channels you prefer. I rarely talk about my radio anymore, and it’d be fun to get your thoughts on your favorite Sirius/XM channels.
