My 7 Things to do before graduating

Call it the graduation bucket list, and not be negative, but given how busy I am, I know it’ll probably be difficult to complete all seven tasks.

That being said, there are 50 days until I (finally) get to graduate from the University of Cincinnati

7. Learn the rules of lacrosse
One fun fact that a lot of folks don’t know about me is that on top of filming football at UC, I’m a freelance guy of sorts. I film youth football games during the football season and the same folks who have me film their football games have allowed me to film some lacrosse games at the Summit Country Day school.

Another fun fact is that I literally know nothing about lacrosse, and if you know me, you know that I love to know everything about something if I’m dedicating a lot of time to it. So, with as much lacrosse as I have filmed and will be filming in the next few weeks, I should probably learn the rules of lacrosse.

6. Go to the Newport Aquarium
I’ve lived in Cincinnati my entire life and ever since he Newport Aquarium opened in 1999 it has never been graced with my presence. I know, I’m not that important, but really, I need to go to the aquarium.

I visited the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago in 2003 on vacation with the family, and it was pretty cool. Now I need to go to the Aquarium in my own hometown to see what I’ve been missing.

5. Reds-Marlins series
Luckily for me the Marlins are in town before I graduate. So I need to go to at least one game of the series, decked out, of course, in my Florida Marlins shirt and one of my Marlins hats. Is there any other way?

4. Kentucky Speedway’s tire test
I can’t wait to go to the Goodyear tire test at Kentucky Speedway, especially if it’s before I graduate. People who know me know that I love NASCAR, and it’s an opportunity to relax and do what I love before graduation. I wouldn’t have it any other way, personally.

3. Buy a suit
I love the show “How I Met Your Mother,” so it’s time to suit up, as Barney Stinson would say. My grandma suggested I go out and buy a suit because I’ll never know when I may need one. So, this weekend I get to go out and buy a suit. I might just have to wear it to Channel 19 one night.

2. Begin writing my book, or books
I have this ultimate goal of writing a book, or maybe more than one book, and someday publishing a book or two. But I struggle with what to write about that I can actually share with the outside world. I’m sure Brian Kelly doesn’t want his “trade secrets” revealed in a book, but I thought of writing about the night he left Cincinnati.

Who knows, I might be able to fashion a book around my experiences as a fan and a media member at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Kentucky Speedway. If you have suggestions, leave them for me here or get in touch with me on Twitter or e-mail.

1. Write thank you notes to everyone who has supported me
Whether you’ve read my blog or just been there to say “Hi,” throughout the past four years, you deserve some thanks. So I feel like I should sit down and write out thank you notes to everyone I can think of to thank them for their support over the past four years.

I have a job, well, I have numerous jobs I guess you could say, that take up so much of my time that I rarely get to see everyone—family and friends included—that mean the most to me. I hope they’re reading this, so I can save on writing notes!

Thanks for reading, and have a great Easter weekend.
