100 days ‘til the 2011 Brickyard 400

The countdown is on.

In 100 days the green flag will drop on the 18th Brickyard 400 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Ind. It’s my favorite race of the year for numerous reasons, the least of which is the fact that until this year, Indy was always the closest race to my home.

Obviously that has changed with the addition of Kentucky Speedway to the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule, but the Brickyard will always hold the most special place in my NASCAR fan heart.

Plenty of Kentucky Speedway and Brickyard 400 coverage will dominate the blog for the next few months, so be sure to continually check it out here.

Also, a shameless plug for the blog that has promoted my work a few times, “Cleveland’s Rocks,” a blog started by my friend and co-worked J.P. Hummer and a pal of his from Cleveland. If you’re a Cleveland sports fan you need to check this site out. It’s got plenty of Indians, Browns and Cavs news, notes and opinions. Visit http://clevelandsrocks.blogspot.com/ for more

Update on Wednesday’s post: Kentucky Speedway’s tire test will not be held Tuesday, May 17th because of ongoing track construction and renovation. Kevin Kelly of the Cincinnati Enquirer posted a story about the construction and upgrades to the 1.5-mile oval in Sparta, read it here: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110421/SPT/304210065/Speedway-project-postpones-testing?odyssey=modnewswelltextSportsp
